I love a detailed itinerary but they really are just suggestions. Keep the logistical plans and stay firm on your must-sees but from there... follow your mood, your interests, and let the day take you where it will. Leave space to enjoy your meals, have conversations with locals, soak in your surroundings, and be open to the unexpected.
Some of the best advice I've received is to plan a trip as if you're going to return. No matter where you go you don't have to do everything! Don't worry about things you didn't see or experience (this time). Just add them to your wish list for the next time you visit.
The Canadian Rockies defy explanation. Seven parks (4 National and 3 BC Provincial), protect an area of roughly 400km long by up to 100km wide and have been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Regardless of what season you visit, whether you choose luxury travel or roughing it, are physically active or like to take things easy, the Canadian Rockies offer something for everyone and never ceases to amaze!
Vancouver Island feels otherworldly. Each region is distinct, offering unique communities, culture, amazing adventures, and scenery that needs to be experienced to be believed. Life moves at a different pace on the Island. Slowing down not only allows you to soak in everything around you but also to connect to the people you will meet along the way.
Vancouver Island is home to one of my favourite places in the world, Tofino! Every time I visit the experience feels like a gift and I can't wait until I return again.
Scotland was my first trip outside of North America and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. I've been to Scotland three times now and I plan to return as often as I can. My favourite thing about Scotland is the people! Yes, the culture, the history, and the natural beauty are amazing but the moments and conversations shared with locals are what I remember the most. The people of Scotland are welcoming, generous, and masters of storytelling!
